Testimonials

Students need to be able to apply what they're learning in fun and meaningful ways. Creating a story and illustrating it is one way to demonstrate reading skills.

As a supervisor and colleague, I've appreciated Linda's honest, thoughtful, and critical input regarding the work we do. Her knowledge, expertise, and experience are vast. Linda's integrity is impeccable. Her teacher leadership has been a consistent guiding force for continuous school improvement. Linda's ongoing risk-taking efforts are to remove institutional barriers, provide all students access to high quality teaching, and to grow the expectations of all members of the community.

Students can learn collaboration skills in small groups when working together to create and illustrate a story.

Ms. Patrell-Kim's work with students is one of the most important things that sets her apart from so many others in a similar position. She meets students where they are, establishes strong rapport, creates a safe space, wherein students are comfortable taking academic risks, and she genuinely cares about each student. She welcomes student questions, encourages student dialogue, and creates fun and engaging lessons that interest her students. I have overheard many conversations between Ms. Patrell-Kim and her students. I always feel that the students walk away feeling better than they did before their interaction. She is a wonderfully caring person who puts students and their needs first.
